For the People Foundation is dedicated in the memory of Lt. Christopher Hugh Snyder. Lt. Snyder was a Sea Hawk pilot in the Navy, he served several tours in Iraq, and an anti narcotics mission in December of 2005 off the coast of Columbia. On December 13, 2005 Christopher’s helicopter went down shortly after launching from the USS DeWret, on December 16th the Navy declared the Christopher and the other two men on board KIA. No bodies or the helicopter were ever found. Christopher is Andrea (the charity’s founder) cousin. Christopher was survived by his fiancée, his mother, and his sister. Christopher’s was upheld a family tradition of being in the military especially the Navy, his father was KIA several years prior to Christopher’s death. Christopher is deeply missed. 

His friend Danny said at Chris’ funeral: “Chris Snyder was so many things. He was an incredibly devoted son and brother. If you spent any time around him you couldn't help but feel guilty that you weren't as good to your mother as he was to his. He was an exceptional pilot, loving boyfriend, rabid New York Mets fan and an unfailingly loyal friend... There has never been anyone like Chris Snyder. I think a lot of you who knew him will understand when I say that I feel very lucky today. I feel lucky that I had the privilege of knowing that Snides is a person worth missing every day for the rest of my life.”
